EGL 3283 British Literature 2Three hours (On Campus) A study of English literature from the 18th and 19th centuries. Works may include novels by Defoe, Austen, Bronte, and Dickens; Romantic and mid-late Victorian poetry; and a Wilde play. Readings will be interspersed with discussions on Romanticism, the British Empire and colonialism, women’s rights, and the evolution versus faith debate. A scholarly paper is required. Meets the Arts and Humanities requirement of the Core Curriculum.
Prerequisite: EGL 1023 or EGL 1093 Offered on campus Spring semester (odd-numbered years)
