CRJ 4153 ForensicsThree hours (On Campus) Forensic Science gives students a look at the subjective nature of crime scene investigations complemented by the objectiveness of forensic science, and how these disciplines aid in the pursuit of justice. Students will receive hands-on instruction in how to approach and organize a crime scene for analysis, how to photograph a crime scene, and how to identify, collect, and interpret evidence from a crime scene such as: blood spatter, finger prints, shoe marks, body position, ballistics, etc. After this class, students will have gained a basic knowledge of the scope of crime scene investigation; will have been given an introduction to forensic laboratory disciplines and procedures; will be able to understand the inter-relatedness of CSI, lab practices and the Criminal Justice system; will have gained exposure to several types of physical evidence with hands-on activities; and, will have formed a baseline for observation skills and situational awareness.
Prerequisite: CRJ 3053 Offered on campus Spring semester (even-numbered years)
