CYB 2133 Security GovernanceThree hours (On Campus and Online) This course explores the strategic side of cybersecurity, focusing on the frameworks, policies, and regulations that guide security efforts within organizations. Security Governance ensures that security measures align with business objectives, risk tolerance, and regulatory requirements. Students will learn to develop, implement, and maintain cybersecurity policies, as well as understand the importance of governance frameworks such as NIST, ISO 27001, and COBIT. Throughout the course, students will examine the role of risk management, compliance, and auditing in ensuring a robust security posture. Case studies will highlight how security governance failures lead to breaches and regulatory penalties, while successful governance strategies strengthen organizational resilience. This course emphasizes the necessity of bridging the gap between technical security measures and executive decision-making. By the end of the course, students will be capable of designing governance strategies that not only comply with laws and regulations but also promote a culture of security across all levels of an organization. Students will leave equipped to guide businesses in aligning their cybersecurity efforts with broader corporate goals. An additional fee may be associated with this course.
