CYB 4143 Offensive SecurityThree hours (On Campus and Online) This course introduces students to the mindset and techniques used by ethical hackers and penetration testers to identify and exploit vulnerabilities in networks, systems, and applications. The course emphasizes legal and ethical considerations while covering penetration testing methodologies, including reconnaissance, vulnerability scanning, exploitation, and post-exploitation activities. Students will also learn about advanced attack techniques, such as social engineering and reverse engineering. Hands-on labs and simulations will provide students with the opportunity to practice attacking and defending systems in controlled environments. This practical experience is crucial in preparing students for real-world engagements in offensive security roles. They will use popular tools like Metasploit, Wireshark, and Kali Linux to assess the security of various systems and applications. By the end of the course, students will have developed a strong understanding of how attackers think and operate. This knowledge will enable them to better defend against security threats and contribute to building more secure systems. An additional fee may be associated with this course.
