CE 3121 Soil Mechanics Lab

One hour (On Campus)
This course introduces the fundamental principles of soil mechanics and their application to geotechnical engineering. Topics include soil classification, permeability, seepage, consolidation, shear strength, and compaction. Students will explore the behavior of soil under various loading conditions, study the impact of water on soil properties, and analyze subsurface stresses and stability. Laboratory sessions will reinforce theoretical concepts through hands-on experiments involving soil testing and data analysis. Applications include foundation design, slope stability, retaining structures, and soil improvement techniques. This course prepares students for advanced study in geotechnical engineering and related fields. One two-hour laboratory per week. This lab must be taken with CE 3122 . An additional fee may be associated with this course.

Prerequisite: ME 2453
Corequisite: CE 3122
Offered on campus Fall semester
