ENVAS 3964 Applied Conservation Field Skills

Four hours (Au Sable)
This intensive field-based course provides students with practical skills essential for careers in natural resource management, conservation, and ecological research. Students will gain hands-on experience in chainsaw safety training, herbicide application for invasive species management, prescribed fire techniques, wilderness first aid, and techniques for collecting and preparing voucher specimens for plants, mammals, birds, insects, and fish. Field survey techniques will also be covered, providing students with essential data collection and analysis skills for ecological research and resource management. Students must have completed one year of ecological or environmental science coursework. Offered at Au Sable - Great Lakes. Equivalent to Au Sable Biol 372 course.

Prerequisites: BIO 1141  and BIO 1143 BIO 2181  and BIO 2183 
Offered Summer semester at the Au Sable Institute
