The finance degree provides students with an understanding of basic financial management techniques as well as a broad overview of financial planning and portfolio analysis. The purpose is to prepare students with the knowledge required to work toward financial certifications such as the AFCE, CFP, and CFA, and entry-level jobs in financial planning, banking, and corporate finance.
The baccalaureate program in Finance requires 124 minimum total semester hours including courses from four categories: (1) the Core Curriculum, (2) the Business Core, (3) the Finance Core, and (4) a minor field of study or electives sufficient to achieve the required minimum total hours.
Majors outside of business may also choose Business Administration as a minor.
Students must achieve a cumulative grade point average of 2.25 in all Department of Business course work and in each minor.
