Student Learning OutcomesThe program outcomes are published on the university web site. A graduate from the John Brown University Electrical Engineering program should have: - An ability to identify, formulate, and solve complex engineering problems by applying principles of engineering, science, and mathematics.
- An ability to apply engineering design to produce solutions that meet specified needs with consideration of public health, safety, and welfare, as well as global, cultural, social, environmental, and economic factors.
- An ability to communicate effectively with a range of audiences.
- An ability to recognize ethical and professional responsibilities in engineering situations and make informed judgments in the light of a Christian worldview, which must consider the impact of engineering solutions in global, economic, environmental, and societal contexts.
- An ability to function effectively on a team whose members together provide leadership, create a collaborative and inclusive environment, establish goals, plan tasks, and meet objectives.
- An ability to develop and conduct appropriate experimentation, analyze and interpret data, and use engineering judgment to draw conclusions.
- An ability to acquire and apply new knowledge as needed, using appropriate learning strategies.

University Core Curriculum - 27 hours
The program requirements satisfy 15 of the 42 hours in the Core Curriculum.
- The Intercultural Engagement elective area is satisfied by EN 3513 .
- The Mathematics elective area is satisfied by MTH 1134 .
- The six hours of the Natural Science elective area, including the lab requirement, are satisfied by CHM 1124 and PHY 2114 .
- Three hours of the Social and Behavioral Sciences elective area are satisfied by EN 2323 .
The program is exempt from the three hours of the Arts and Humanities elective area and from the final three hours from either the Arts and Humanities or the Social and Behavioral Sciences elective areas.
Engineering Core - 88 hours
