Student Learning Outcomes- Students will apply mathematical concepts to problems in science, engineering, and statistics (and possibly other fields chosen by the instructor).
- Students will perform computations according to standard rules.
- Students will think abstractly and creatively by devising proofs in pure mathematics.
- Students will understand and explain the purpose and meaning of axioms, definitions, and theorems in abstract mathematics.
- Students will communicate mathematical concepts effectively.
- Students will evaluate and discuss various integrative strategies at the interface of Christian belief and scientific/mathematical knowledge.
Requirements for the Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree with major in Mathematics

University Core Curriculum - 42 hours
Program requirements satisfy 6 of the 48 hours in the Core Curriculum. - The Mathematics elective area is satisfied by MTH 1134 .
- Three hours of the Natural Science elective area, including the lab requirement, are covered by PHY 2114 .
Courses Specified by the Department - 48 hours
Electives
- Additional six hours of upper-division MTH courses
Optional Concentration: Actuarial Science - 27 hours
Students who choose this concentration will be prepared to take the first two Preliminary Actuarial Exams by supplementing the required courses for the Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics with the following courses from the Soderquist College of Business: Complete a standardized achievement test designated by the department
