The B.B.A. in Economics, with emphases in Analytics and Economic Development, provides students with a broad core of business skills while focusing on essential economic concepts. Students learn microeconomic theory and its application to managerial problems, and they study the broader context of business in macroeconomics and public policy. The program prepares students to work with data using econometric tools for informed business decision making. Students choosing the Analytics emphasis will further enhance their skills with data visualization and interpretation. Students choosing the Economic Development emphasis will deepen their understanding of the global economy, trade, development, and poverty alleviation.
Student Learning Outcomes
In addition to the overall shared student learning department outcomes are program-specific outcomes. The program-specific outcome for economics is as follows:
Economics Knowledge and Skills: Articulate essential theories of the market, economic growth, and business cycles, explain the effects of related public policies, and use data effectively to explore and explain economic phenomena.

University Core Curriculum - 36 hours
Program requirements satisfy 12 of the 48 hours in the Core Curriculum.
- The Intercultural Engagement elective area is satisfied by INT 4103 .
- The Mathematics elective area is satisfied by BUS 2193 .
- Six hours of the Social and Behavioral Sciences elective area are satisfied by ECN 2113 and ECN 2123 .
Business Department Core - 42 hours
Economics Core - 18 hours
Emphasis option - 9 hours from one of the following emphases
Minor field, area of interest, or electives as necessary to complete minimum total hours
