Student Learning Outcomes

Students earning the B.S. in Humanitarian and Disaster Relief will:

  • Be able to engage other cultures interpersonally.
  • Be able to demonstrate leadership capacities of influence, responsibility, and initiative.
  • Be able to understand the methods and processes used in modern humanitarian and disaster response efforts.

Requirements for the Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree with major in Humanitarian and Disaster Relief

University Core Curriculum - 39 hours


Program requirements satisfy 9 of the 48 hours in the Core Curriculum.

  

Courses Specified by the Department - 9 hours


Required Major Field Courses - 33 hours


Advanced Medical Courses - 9 hours


NWACC Courses


8 hours of EMTA Basic course work to be taken at Northwest Arkansas Community College (NWACC) and transferred to JBU consisting of:

  • EMTA 1004 Basic Emergency Medical Technician I
  • EMTA 2004 Emergency Medical Technician II

Minor field, area of interest, or electives as necessary to complete minimum total hours
