Return to: Academic Programs
This Education Studies program has been developed for students who wish to develop teaching skills but do not plan to pursue a position in a school where a teaching license is required. This program may include securing positions in private schools, developing curriculum, serving as camp staff, posting training opportunities, or working with children outside of the public education system. Such a program should be designed in consultation with a faculty advisor after the student has had significant college experience. TESOL and Intercultural Studies minors would complement this degree well.
Student Learning Outcomes
In keeping with the overall goals of the university, the Teacher Education Department expects Education Studies graduates to demonstrate the following broad learner outcomes:
- Candidates will synthesize and apply in-depth content knowledge to design interdisciplinary and standards-aligned learning experiences.
- Candidates will be able to design, implement, and evaluate instruction that integrates evidence-based strategies utilizing plans for inclusion and differentiation.
- Candidates will be able to develop and analyze formative assessments to interpret student data and adjust instructional decisions accordingly.
- Candidates will be able to critically evaluate professional practice, engage in reflective growth, and collaborate with stakeholders ethically.
