CE 3231 Geotechnical Engineering Lab

One hour (On Campus)

This course focuses on the advanced principles and applications of geotechnical engineering. Students will learn to analyze and design geotechnical systems such as foundations, retaining walls, and earth slopes. Topics include site investigation, bearing capacity, lateral earth pressure, settlement analysis, and slope stability. Emphasis is placed on the practical challenges of geotechnical design, including the consideration of soil-structure interaction and the use of engineering judgment in real-world scenarios. Laboratory and fieldwork components provide students with experience in subsurface exploration and geotechnical testing methods. This course equips students with the necessary skills to design safe and efficient geotechnical systems and prepares them for professional practice or further study in civil and geotechnical engineering. One two-hour laboratory per week. This lab must be taken with CE 3232. An additional fee may be associated with this course.
