Student Learning Outcomes

Students earning the B.S. in Humanitarian and Disaster relief should be:

  • Technically Competent Emergency Medicine & Humanitarian Relief Professionals
  • Leaders who are willing to take initiative, be responsible and appropriately influence others from an orientation of humility, generosity and maturity.
  • Intentional Persons of Faith who use their gifts to serve others with compassion in times of great need.
  • Persons who can work effectively in culturally diverse settings.
  • Persons who understand the methods and process used in modern humanitarian and disaster response efforts.

Requirements for the Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree with major in Humanitarian and Disaster Relief

University Core Curriculum - 39 hours


Program requirements satisfy 9 of the 48 hours in the Core Curriculum.

  

Courses Specified by the Department - 9 hours


Required Major Field Courses - 33 hours


Advanced Medical Courses - 9 hours


NWACC Courses


8 hours of EMTA Basic course work to be taken at Northwest Arkansas Community College (NWACC) and transferred to JBU consisting of:

  • EMTA 1004 Basic Emergency Medical Technician I
  • EMTA 2004 Emergency Medical Technician II

Minor field or electives as necessary to complete minimum total hours
